Nazareth Academy seniors named commended scholars

Nazareth Academy seniors Sophie Hynes, of Western Springs, and Alexander Soto, of Berwyn, have been named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers among students who took the 2021 PSAT/NMSQT.
In addition to their test scores, both Sophie and Alex are involved in the fuller life of Nazareth through Student Activities.
Upon announcing the news, Principal Therese Hawkins said, “We are extremely proud of these seniors, not only for their academic success, but for the consistent ways they live out our Pillars of Scholarship, Service, Spirit and Unity in the greater community.”
Sophie was recently recognized as an AP Scholar.
Alexander was recently recognized as a College Board National Hispanic Scholar.
Nazareth Academy, a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory high school serving families from 65 communities and over 100 grade schools in Chicago and the western suburbs, established in 1900 and sponsored by the Congregation of St. Joseph, values scholarship, service, spirit, and unity.
