Shots fired in Chicago Ridge Commons parking lot
From staff reports
Shots were fired Wednesday night in the parking lot at Chicago Ridge Commons mall.
Police said they received reports of the shooting about 9:45 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Multiple witnesses told police four men were walking through the parking lot from the XSport Fitness area. They approached two vehicles and separated with two entering a gold vehicle, possibly a Honda, and the other two subjects entering a black vehicle, possibly a Honda.
Witnesses said they then heard multiple gun shots on several different occasions as the vehicles drove through the lot and exited onto Ridgeland Avenue.
Officers recovered a total of 25 spent casings and one live round from the parking lot. Two vehicles in the lot were struck with bullets. In addition to the vehicles, the Five Below store had a front window shattered from one of the rounds.
Police said they were not certain if the shots began before the men entered one of the cars or if the shooting began as both vehicles drove through the parking lot.
Both vehicles were last observed by witnesses exiting the lot with one heading southbound on Ridgeland Avenue and one heading northbound on Ridgeland.
Officers checked with local hospitals throughout the night, but there were no reported gunshot victims.
All four of the men involved were described as male black subjects, 20-25 years of age, 5’9″ to 6’0″ in height, wearing dark clothing. Two were described as having dreadlocks.
Detectives continue to investigate and ask that if anyone has further information, please contact the Chicago Ridge Police Department.
