Comings & Goings: Butera closing Frankfort supermarket

Elgin-based Butera Finer Foods, which reacquired its former supermarket at 20825 S. LaGrange Road in Frankfort in 2018, announced the store would be closing sometime in October.
The family-owned Butera chain took over the former Walt’s Food Center on Nov. 11, 2018, and christened the store a Butera Fruit Market. Walt’s had taken over the store from Butera several years ago when it was downsizing.
The Frankfort store is the only Butera location in the south suburbs.
The store’s sales paper, which came out on September 28, officially announced the closing and liquidation sale. The store will remain open until its inventory is sold off.
Hours at Butera Fruit Market are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

I’m so sorry to see this store close. I’m a senior and it’s harder to navigate bigger stores. Their produce and meat Departments are always impeccable. So sad????
