Palos Park collects unwanted electronics

The Village of Palos Park helped residents to rid their homes of unwanted electronics that may have just been sitting around taking up space and collecting dust.
In partnership with Republic Services, the village hosted its annual Electronics Recycling Event on Friday, August 19, at Palos Park’s Kaptur Center parking lot, 8999 W. 123rd St, Palos Park.
The village works with its public works department and Republic Services, an American waste disposal company whose services include non-hazardous solid waste collection, waste transfer, waste disposal, recycling, and energy services, annually on the event.
“We are glad to be able to offer this service to our residents, giving the opportunity to get rid of unwanted and unused electronics,” Palos Park Village Manager Rick Boehm said. “The village council is always coming up with ways to better serve our residents.”
During the free Electronic Recycling Event, residents were able to drop off any two electronics from the following list: computers, small scale servers, computer monitors, electronic keyboards and mice, printers, fax machines, scanners, televisions, DVD players, DVD recorders, VCRs, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers, portable digital music players and video game consoles and remote controls.
Residents had to have a current (2022-2023) Palos Park Village vehicle sticker in order to participate.
“It’s nice to be able to hold this event once a year for our residents,” Palos Park Public Works Supervisor, Fidel Castillo, said.
