Father Malloy
He was ordained to the priesthood on May 9, 1973, by Cardinal John Cody, and celebrated his first solemn Mass on May 13 of the same year at St. Francis Xavier Parish in La Grange.
Father Malloy served the people of the Archdiocese as assistant pastor at St. Bernadette Parish in Evergreen Park. Later he was associate pastor at St. Norbert Parish in Northbrook and Incarnation Parish in Palos Heights. He also served at St. Germaine Parish in Oak Lawn.
He retired in 2017 after serving for 10 years at St. Barnabas Parish in Beverly, where he continued living after retirement.
Father Malloy was also a faculty member at Quigley Preparatory Seminary for a year, from September 1977 to August 1978.
The Rev. James J. Donovan, pastor of St. Barnabas, remembered “Father Bill” as a well-prepared preacher, known for his kindness and gentle spirit.
“He always had time for his parishioners from all his parishes,” Father Donovan said. “His quiet and sincere manner endeared him to many over nearly 50 years. Please keep his 101-year-old father, his sisters and their families, and the St. Barnabas community in your prayers.”
Services were July 25 at St. Barnabas. Cardinal Blase Cupich was the main celebrant of the Mass, and Father Donovan was the homilist. Internment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
