ACE awards scholarships to Argo students

After taking a year off because of the pandemic, the Argo Coalition for Education has once again handed out scholarships to students at Argo Community High School.
The ceremony was held on May 9 in the Portillo Performing Arts Center at the Summit school.
The program was assisted by Argo Supt. Dr. William Toulious, and Counselor Cindy Haac.
This year’s scholarships were awarded to the following students, along with what college they will be attending.
Dariyon Mallory, Morehouse College, Atlanta, to study Computer Science.
Andrea Bautista, University of Illinois at Champaign, to study Sociology and Focus on the Effect of Climate Change; Miracle Williams, Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, to study Nursing; Tala Shraim, University of Illinois at Chicago to study Engineering; Kamara Hawa, Morgan State University in Baltimore, to study Nursing and minor in Political Science; Vonyea Anderson, University of Illinois at Champaign to study Music Production; Jayleen Thompson, University of Illinois at Chicago to study Business; Varonica Ogorek, University of Illinois at Chicago to study Marketing and International Business; and Lars Randolph, Moraine Valley Community College to study Theater and Drama.
ACE is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and members work as a team to provide a safe environment for youth in the communities of Summit, Justice, Hickory Hills and Willow Springs.
Their College Education Matters program takes place at Argo Community High School and assists students in preparation to get them enrolled in institutions of higher learning as well as helping them in their research in doing so.
The motto of the Argo Coalition for Education is “Empowering minds and building leaders for the future.”
