Medicare, history programs coming to Clearing Library

Two programs occurring at the Clearing Branch Library, 6423 W. 63rd Place, have been announced by branch manager Ron Bitunjac.
Those with questions about Medicare are encouraged to visit the library at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 or Saturday, May 28. Staff from MA3 Financial will offer what they call Medicare 101 presentations.
The Clear-Ridge Historical Society will host a “History of Surveying in Chicago” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 18.

Leading the presentation will be Donald and Tanya Smith of Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith surveyors, whose company has been in existence since 1854 and once assisted Abraham Lincoln during his days as a lawyer. They will discuss topics in the history of land surveying including the construction of piers in downtown Chicago, land disputes over “sand bars” in Lake Michigan, the reversal of the Chicago River, and a few local projects in the Clearing area.
There is no admission charge for the programs, although donations to the non-profit Clear-Ridge Historical Society are welcome.
