Clear-Ridge Historical Society programs endeavor to bring history to life, as was the case a few years back, when CRHS officer Ed Kozak (right) dressed up as a driver from the early days of automobiles.

Leading the presentation will be Donald and Tanya Smith of Greeley-Howard-Norlin-Smith surveyors, whose company has been in existence since 1854 and once assisted Abraham Lincoln during his days as a lawyer. They will discuss topics in the history of land surveying including the construction of piers in downtown Chicago, land disputes over “sand bars” in Lake Michigan, the reversal of the Chicago River, and a few local projects in the Clearing area.

There is no admission charge for the programs, although donations to the non-profit Clear-Ridge Historical Society are welcome.
