Warrant issued for suspected shooter in Worth double homicide

Worth police have an arrest warrant for a man suspected as the shooter in a double homicide January 10 at the Crossing Bar and Grill in Worth.

Worth police are working with numerous law enforcement agencies to seek the man, who was not identified.

Police said the suspect is not the same person whose name was making the rounds on social media last week as the shooter.

Last week, Police Chief Tim Denton warned that  the information was incorrect. “Investigators obtained intelligence that a suspect has been identified and filtered onto various social media platforms,” he said. “This information has been determined to be inaccurate.  The person identified and posted to social media is not the offender in this incident.”

The two victims have been identified by friends and family members as Kevin Drexel and Daniel Sereiko, 38, both of Oak Lawn.

Gofundme campaigns have been started for both men.

“On January 10, our worlds came to a complete stop to hear the news that our friend, Kevin Drexel, had been killed. For all that knew Kevin or Kevo they would say that his smile was contagious and his laugh infectious. He was the type of friend where he would walk into the room and instantly brighten it with just his presence. My favorite thing about Kevin was how he loved. He loved with his whole heart and nothing less. To his friends he was family and anyone who knew Kevin knew his family was everything to him and his favorite title was being an uncle. It breaks my heart into pieces to be typing these words. His family is suffering right now and the last thing they should be worried about is the financial aspect of burying a loved one. If you could find it in your hearts to donate, anything will help during this time. Please keep the entire Drexel family in your prayers at this time,” wrote Ashley Terry, of Tinley Park, who began the campaign.

As of Sunday afternoon, it had raised more than $11,000 of a $15,000 goal.

A teacher from Richards High School in Oak Lawn said in a Facebook posting that Drexel had been a student of hers.

Visitation for Drexel will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111^th St. Chicago Ridge. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 19. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

“We are saddened to share that on Monday, January 10, Danny was the victim of a tragic homicide. We are all in complete shock, and it still seems surreal. A man of many nicknames, he was Danny to us. He loved to go on fishing trips with our Dad and have a beer while watching the Blackhawks game.

“With his passing, he leaves behind his 7-year-old daughter, Selena. We are all grieving and in the process of planning a memorial in his honor. Please consider donating any amount to this fund. The money will be allocated to memorial expenses and Selena’s future,” his family wrote on his gofundme page.

As of Sunday afternoon, it had raised more than $33,000 of a $10,000 goal.

Visitation for Sereiko will take place from 2-7:30 p.m. Monday at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95^th St. in Oak Lawn. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be private.

Police have not released a motive for the shootings, but said there were two groups of men who knew each other that were involved. A third man was wounded. He was treated and released at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
