Chicago police released a crime alert Sunday about a recent armed robbery that was committed on a CTA Orange Line Train in the Clearing neighborhood.
Mass Transit detectives are seeking to identify a man who approached a CTA passenger inside a CTA Orange Line train located in the 4600 block of West 59th Street about 12:30 a.m. on December 27.
The man approached the victim, with a bottle in his hand, and demanded the victim’s cell phone.
The robber was described as an African-American, approximately 20-30 years of age, about 6-foot tall weighing about 180 pounds. He had short hair and possible tattoos on both arms.
The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored jersey with words “Wild One” and the number “13” on the front and the word “trouble” and two panther faces on the back, black-colored pants with wording “Nah I’m good” in white lettering on upper left leg and black-colored gym shoes.
Police said passengers should be aware of their surroundings and remember their location, including bus/train car number, route or train line, train car number and direction of travel.
Passengers should report suspicious activity. If confronted by an assailant/offender, remain calm and never pursue. Report any distinct clothing/accessories and physical characteristics. Press the emergency button and alert the Transit Attendant. Call 911 immediately; provide detailed description of location and assailant.
