Adrian Diaz-Rodriguez, 36, of the 4500 block of South Spaulding Avenue, was charged with attempted theft and battery after an altercation with a 57-year-old man at 3:46 p.m. Dec. 6 at a store in the 4900 block of South Kedzie Avenue.
Police said he tried to steal the man’s wallet and punched him in the face.
When Diaz-Rodriguez ran outside, bystanders restrained him until police arrived, according to the report.
