Man shot in Brighton Park

A 50-year-old man was shot several times in the back as he rode in a vehicle in the 2500 block of West Pope John Paul II Drive at 1:52 a.m. Sunday, April 17. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. No one is in custody.

Man shot in Archer Heights

A 28-year-old man was shot in the back and right shoulder as he stood on a sidewalk in the 4700 block of South Lawndale at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, April 17. The victim told police the shooter was one of three men who walked up on him. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. No one is in custody.

Shot as he stands in alley

A 19-year-old man was shot in the upper left leg as he stood in an alley in the 4700 block of West 47^th Street at 5:45 p.m. Friday, April 15. The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition. The shooter reportedly fired from a black vehicle that pulled up to the victim. No one is in custody.

Reputed gang member shot in the back

A 27-year-old man said by a law enforcement source to be a gang member was shot in the lower back as he rode in the back seat of a vehicle in the 5900 block of South California at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, April 15. The victim was driven to Little Company of Mary Hospital and later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. The shooter reportedly fired from a vehicle that pulled behind the victim’s vehicle. No one is in custody.

Shot while pumping gas

An 18-year-old man was shot in the left leg as he pumped gas at a gas station in the 4700 block of South Western at 3:12 a.m. Wednesday, April 13. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. Police were told the shooter fired from a black SUV. No one is in custody.

Traffic stop leads to weapons charge

An 18-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested during a traffic stop in the 6300 block of South Springfield at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27.

Joel David Moreno, of the 6400 block of South Sacramento, reportedly was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol, a CPD spokesman said.

Claim man trespassed at home

A 49-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with criminal trespass to a residence after he was arrested in the 3500 block of West 63^rd Place.

Juan Romero, of the 6300 block of South Claremont, allegedly trespassed at the home of his ex-wife, a CPD spokesman said. A charge of criminal damage to property was added after Romero allegedly used a piece of plywood to damage a rear window at the home.

According to public records, Romero has been arrested four times by CPD since 2016 on such charges as assault, battery and theft.

Claim woman drove drunk

            A 28-year-old Garfield Ridge woman was charged with DUI after she her vehicle was curbed by police in the 6900 block of West 54^th Street at 4:39 p.m. Saturday, April 2.

Whitney Robichaux, of the 5200 block of South Mobile, was apprehended by officers responding to a 911 call about a motorist driving erratically. Police said her vehicle had two flat tires and that she was riding on the rims, leading to a citation for driving an unsafe vehicle.

A charge of illegally transporting alcohol was added after officers discovered an open whiskey bottle in the vehicle, a CPD spokesman said without elaborating. She also was cited for failure to carry a driver’s license with her.

Say man fired gun on 62^nd Street

A 21-year-old West Elsdon man was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested at 60^th and Parkside at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, April 3.

Juan Zeferino-Rosendo, of the 5300 block of South Hamlin, allegedly fired a pistol near 62^nd and Parkside, a CPD spokesman said without elaborating.

Claim man drove on suspended license

A 32-year-old man from suburban Calumet City was charged with driving on a suspended license, as well as driving a vehicle with no valid registration, after he was arrested in the 7000 block of West 60^th Street at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, April 3.

Derrick B. Kent, of the 500 block of Clyde, was apprehended without incident.

Charge motorist with driving booted vehicle, crashing gate

A 65-year-old South Shore man was charged with criminal damage to property and theft after he was arrested in the 4900 block of West 55^th Street at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30.

Reuben Johnson-Bey, of the 1700 block of East 93^rd Street, allegedly drove his booted vehicle out of a park-and-ride lot across the street from Midway Airport, crashing through a gate in the process, a CPD spokesman said. 

Charge man with criminal trespass to a vehicle

A 19-year-old South Loop man was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle, theft and possession of burglary tools after he was arrested in the 3700 block of West Columbus (Southwest Highway) at 9:47 p.m. Tuesday, March 29.

Khalil J. Lofton, of the 800 block of South Plymouth Court, allegedly was found in a BMW he does not own or have permission to be in, a CPD spokesman said.

The vehicle reportedly was taken from a nearby auto body shop, police added.

Say teen had gun in bookbag

An 18-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested in the 7700 block of South Kenton at 1:19 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.

Alexander Marinez, of the 3500 block of West 72^nd Street, allegedly was found with a handgun in his backpack, a CPD spokesman said.

He also was cited for being double parked, as well as driving without a license.

Charge two during 55^th Street traffic stop

A 29-year-old man from suburban Des Plaines was charged with DUI after he was arrested at 59^th and Spaulding at 10:19 p.m. Saturday, April 2.

Jimmy Nelson Montesinos, of the 1300 block of South Prospect, also was charged with illegally transporting open alcohol after police reportedly found open beer in his vehicle.

Also arrested was 28-year-old Jesse Olivar, of the same address.

He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon after police reportedly found a loaded handgun on him.

 

 

 

Charged with domestic battery

A 42-year-old Gage Park man was charged with domestic battery after he was arrested at his home in the 5800 block of South Sawyer at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 3.

Noe Aguinaga allegedly grabbed a 45-year-old woman and pushed to a couch during an argument.

 

 

Arrest woman at McDonald’s

            A 34-year-old North Side woman was charged with battery after she was arrested at the McDonald’s at 6430 S. Cicero at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 12.

Trina L. Maratre, of the 4000 block of North Sheridan, allegedly pulled the hair of a 23-year-old female McDonald’s employee during an argument and threw a piece of metal at her, striking her, a CPD spokesman said.

Charge man with criminal trespassing

A 24-year-old Gage Park man was charged with criminal trespass to a residence after he was arrested on the block of where he lives, the 3300 block of West 54^th Street, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9.

Prince M. Kanga allegedly was apprehended in a neighbor’s home, police said.

A charged of criminal damage to property was added after Kanga allegedly smashed several Mason jars, a CPD spokesman added.

Traffic stop leads to drug charge

A 27-year-old Brighton Park man was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after he was arrested during a traffic stop in the 3800 block of West 55^th Street at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, April 9.

Alfredo Rosas, of the 3800 block of South Washtenaw, allegedly was found to be in possession of a significant amount of a white powdery substance, a CPD spokesman said.

He pushed me onto the bed, woman says

A 52-year-old man from suburban Westchester was charged with domestic battery after he was arrested in the 5100 block of South Christiana at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday, April 12.

Jose Cantreras, of the 700 block of North Norfolk, allegedly pushed a 45-year-old woman onto a bed during an argument.

Man walks dog, charged with gun rap

A 21-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested outside near his home in the 6100 block of South Troy at noon Tuesday, April 12.

Jesus Rangel was arrested by officers who said they saw a gun sticking out of a bag Rangel carried as he walked a dog down a sidewalk.

According to public records, Rangel has been arrested three times by CPD since 2020 on charges that included possession of a stolen gun, illegal possession of a laser sight and possession of a marker with intent to deface.
