The Illinois Secretary of State driver’s facility serving the Orland Park area is scheduled to open in its new home at 9291 W. 159th St. in Orland Hills at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, according to the Village of Orland Park.
The new Orland Hills DMV+ sits next to the Hallmark store in the Walmart plaza. Service is by appointment only, booked at ilsos.gov under “Schedule a DMV Appointment.”
The temporary facility at CTF Illinois, 18230 Orland Parkway, will close for good at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, the village said.
After opening day, the Orland Hills facility will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, according to the village.
The facility will handle driver’s licenses, state IDs, REAL ID, road tests, vehicle registration renewals, license plate renewals and replacement stickers. License plate stickers and disability parking placards are available without an appointment.
The move ends a stopgap arrangement that began in 2025. That year, the village said, the newly elected majority of the Orland Township Board abruptly canceled the facility’s lease, and the Secretary of State’s Office had to act quickly to keep service from lapsing.
CTF Illinois, a nonprofit serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offered temporary office space at no charge so the facility could stay in the area while a permanent site was found, according to the village.
Mayor Jim Dodge credited Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and state Sen. Michael E. Hastings with helping secure the new location.
“Keeping these essential services close to home has been our priority from the beginning,” Dodge said.
He thanked CTF Illinois “for stepping up immediately when the prior site was taken away and giving the Drivers Facility a temporary home at no charge.”
