A little more than a year after it opened, the Jack in the Box restaurant in New Lenox has closed its doors.
The restaurant at 672 E. Lincoln Highway closed earlier this month.
The company did not make an announcement regarding the closing, but it has deleted the New Lenox location from the website list of Illinois locations and the phone number has been disconnected. Yelp also reported the site had closed.
Jack in the Box announced last year it would close more than a hundred underperforming locations in 2026. The company cited rising beef prices and increased debt levels among reasons for the closures.
The restaurant was located in a former Arby’s restaurant and was one of the south suburban locations that opened last year as the company made its return to the Chicago area after abandoning the marketplace in the 1970s.
When it opened, there were long lines in the drive-thru lane as customers welcomed the chain back to the area. Recently, the parking lot and drive-thru lanes have been significantly less crowded.
Fans can still get their fill of tacos and Bonus Jacks in Tinley Park and Joliet.
Despite the closings, the company still operates more than 2,000 locations.
