With temperatures reaching 70 degrees, families enjoyed a beautiful fall evening Friday, Oct. 23, at Palos Park’s annual Halloween on the Green.
Superheroes, princesses and other costumed characters filled the Village Green as families gathered for trick-or-treating and Halloween activities.
Children made their way around the grounds, collecting candy and goodies from more than a dozen local businesses and community organizations. The Palos Park Police Department, Palos Fire Protection District, the Palos Park Woman’s Club and Fit4Mom were among those participating, along with several other local groups.

Decorated displays added to the Halloween atmosphere as families visited participating organizations, took part in outdoor crafts and enjoyed activities throughout the grounds. Children also had a chance to show off their costumes during the evening’s contests, while organizations competed for prizes for their Halloween decorations.
As darkness approached, families could explore the Spooky Trail, a decorated one-tenth-mile path featuring special lighting and effects. Designed without actors or jump scares, the attraction offered a less frightening experience for younger children.
Local officials also joined the festivities in costume, including Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters and Larry Wisowaty, a member of the Palos Park Newcomers Welcoming Committee, who dressed as Snow Miser and Heat Miser from the classic Christmas television special “The Year Without a Santa Claus.”
The characters, known for their control over cold and warm weather, brought a playful twist to the Halloween celebration as the pair greeted families and took part in the fun.
With plenty of candy and activities for children of all ages, Halloween on the Green gave Palos Park families an opportunity to celebrate the holiday outdoors and spend time with neighbors and friends.
