Seventh- and eighth-grade students have until Monday, Nov. 16, to enter the William O. Lipinski All-American Eagles Program’s annual essay contest. This year’s theme is “What Makes America Great?”
Essays must be at least 400 words. Each entry must include the student’s name, grade, room number, school name and school phone number.
The program plans to award first, second and third place in separate seventh- and eighth-grade categories. The eighth-grade first-place winner and the school with the most student participation are each set to receive a cash prize.
The program says the contest is meant to encourage young people to learn about American heritage, history and democratic principles while building their writing skills.
