Families looking for Halloween fun can enjoy an afternoon of trick-or-treating, pony rides, games and more when Palos Heights Christian Reformed Church hosts its annual Fall Fest on Oct. 31.

“We love to see all the community people coming together to spend time together on our church grounds,” said Kim Stoub, Fall Fest coordinator.

The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 7059 W. 127th St. in Palos Heights. Trunk-or-treating will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., giving children a chance to collect treats before enjoying the other activities planned for the afternoon.

The church has hosted Fall Fest annually since 2015, and what began as a simple trunk-or-treating event has grown into a larger community celebration.

“It started where we just had trunk-or-treating. We’ve added many activities as the years have gone by,” Stoub said.

This year, families can look forward to face painting, a balloon artist, pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, games and arts and crafts. A touch-a-truck experience also will give children a chance to see vehicles up close, including those from the Palos Heights Police Department and Palos Fire Department, as well as Jingle Johns, Ozinga, Wendy the Waste Truck and a Bobcat.

Admission and activities are free, making the event an affordable outing for families. Food will be available for purchase, with hot dogs and chips and walking tacos each priced at $3. Bags of chips will be available for $1, and drinks will be free.

Stoub said the church looks forward to welcoming families from throughout the community and encourages residents to bring friends and neighbors along for the festivities.
