Pass Health Foods will celebrate the holiday season with a bake-off Nov. 14, inviting home bakers to showcase their favorite treats made with simple, whole-food ingredients.
Carolyn Johnson, co-owner of Pass Health Foods with Liz Ryan, said the holiday contest will feature a grand prize of a $100 gift certificate. Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters and Palos Heights Mayor Bob Straz will serve as judges for the competition.
All recipes must use simple, whole-food ingredients without chemicals or artificial ingredients. Separate categories also will be available for vegan and gluten-free entries.
“We want to make it a fun and delicious day while celebrating wholesome ingredients and creative baking,” Johnson said.
Bakers must submit a complete recipe with each entry. The grand prize winner will be featured in The Regional News, as well as on the Pass Health Foods website and in its newsletter, Johnson said.
Entries must be dropped off between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at Pass Health Foods, 7228 W. College Drive in Palos Heights. Judging will take place at noon, after which attendees will have the opportunity to sample the entries.
Johnson said the event will offer a chance for the community to come together, share homemade favorites and enjoy a variety of holiday treats made with wholesome ingredients.
