Irene “Babcia” Usowicz, who came to America as a young woman, worked hard and raised a family, died peacefully at home Oct. 13, 2026, surrounded by her family and her dear friend and helper, Maria.
She was born July 8, 1928.
She made many friends along the way, her family wrote, and her love of animals and flowers of all kinds reflected who she was. The family thanked Jan, Maria, Mariola and the many others who were part of her life.
She is survived by her children, Adam (Nina) Pierce, Lucy (Joe) Ursetto and Halina (Charlie) Peca; her grandchildren, Jim (Cam) Ursetto, Matt Ursetto, Veronica Ursetto (Tom) McMahon, Liz Ursetto, Tom Pierce, Joe Peca and Mary Peca; and her great-grandson, Patrick McMahon.
Visitation: Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, Illinois.
Interment: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
