A girl tossed rings at a pumpkin on the track behind Argo Community High School, aiming for free Skittles or Starburst.
“I really want to win more Skittles,” she said between throws.
Rain came and went and the air stayed chilly Friday, Oct. 16, but hundreds still came out for the school’s free “Nightmare Before Fall Fest.”
“There was a good turnout given the weather,” Activities Director Stacie Scheiner said. She said the event went well.
Train rides around the track returned for a second year after a popular first run with kids and adults.
Inflatables, a petting zoo and face painting filled the track, along with a DJ, arcade basketball and a magician. Fall backdrops gave families a place to pose for pictures.
The arcade basketball held one Argo junior’s attention.
“I spent a half hour playing that,” David said.
Admission was free. Some clubs sold food, including cotton candy, and ran games offering free goodies or charging a small fee to raise money for their clubs. Hot chocolate was also available.
Fall Fest is an annual event at the school meant to bring the community out for fall fun. This year’s ran from 4 to 6:30 p.m., just before kickoff of the last home football game of the season.
Argo lost that game to Richards, 46-14.
