Some homeowners in Willow Springs’ Willow On the Hill subdivision want to make sure a proposed 21-home development next door in Burr Ridge won’t send stormwater into their backyards.

A resident raised the concern at a recent Willow Springs Village Board meeting and asked village officials to help neighbors keep watch on the project.

Village Administrator Ryan Grace said residents of the subdivision, west of Wolf Road and north of German Church Road, live along the Burr Ridge border.

“Their backyard is up against the village of Burr Ridge,” Grace said.

The land on the other side is largely undeveloped, Grace said, with a single-family home on a large parcel that is up for sale and could be redeveloped. McNaughton Development LLC wants to build there, he said.

Some Willow Springs residents “are concerned about the watershed and making sure Burr Ridge is handling it correctly so water doesn’t flow into their yards,” Grace said.

Yards along that edge of Willow Springs had flooding issues before the village installed new sewers several years ago.

“We added some sewers, things like that, so they’ve had no issues since then. They have flashbacks to years past. We assured them we’ll reach out to Burr Ridge,” Grace said.

Willow Springs plans to send a representative to the Burr Ridge planning meeting “to make sure it’s being handled,” Grace said.

According to an agenda posted on the Burr Ridge village website, the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to take up the project at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Gower Middle School, 7941 Madison St.

The agenda lists a rezoning request and a special use permit for a planned unit development of 21 residences on 16 acres at 11305 79th St. and 1, 2 and 4 Fox Lane.

Permits involving water typically also need approval from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Grace said.

The Willow Springs village board meeting was on Oct. 8. The next meeting is set for Nov. 12.
