David “Dave” Hubert, IBEW electrician and all-around handyman, dies.
David William “Dave” Hubert, an electrician who spent 30 years with Gibson Electric and could fix just about anything handed to him, died Oct. 1, 2026, in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.
He was born July 23, 1968, in Chicago. He earned an associate of applied science degree from Richard J. Daley College and later completed a certificate from the American Airlines Maintenance Academy.
He worked 30 years for Gibson Electric as a member of IBEW Local 134, and he also worked at Woodham Radio. He was known as an all-around handyman who took on any task with skill and pride, and he tried to teach his daughters every skill he could so they would grow into strong, independent women.
He had a nickname for everyone he met. He loved fishing, bike riding, cooking, grilling, pool, horseshoes, bean bags, cards and music, especially the Scorpions. He liked evenings by the fire with a Stella in a chilled glass or a late-night Manhattan.
He tried every Mexican restaurant he could find. At Hiawatha, his favorite bar in Wisconsin, he went looking for the occasional Spotted Cow and the hottest wings on the menu.
His family remembers his sayings: “Through the teeth and through the gums, look out stomach here it comes!”, “Oh Boy!”, “Muy, I’m tired,” and any Confucius quote that fit the moment.
He is survived by Ronalyn, his wife and partner of 40 years; his daughters, Jenna and Jillian; his sisters, Constance Johnson and Julie (Rob) Myers; and the family’s black Lab, Jax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and William Hubert, and his stepfather, Robert Gaides.
