The Orland Park Pioneers lightweight cheerleading team opened its season with a first-place finish Saturday, Oct. 10, at a competition at East Aurora High School, setting the tone for a season that will continue with a trip to state.
The Pioneers earned the top spot through hard work, teamwork and determination, giving the team an early achievement to build on as the competition season continues.
Head coach Rhea Sternberg and assistant coaches Margot O’Meara and Groark have helped guide the cheerleaders through their preparation, providing leadership and support as the athletes work to reach their goals.
The team’s next challenge will be the Spooktacular Competition on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Northern Illinois University’s Convocation Center. With one competition remaining before state, the Pioneers will look to build on their season-opening success and continue strengthening their performance.
The first-place finish gives the Orland Park cheerleaders momentum as they prepare for the upcoming competition and the state meet.
