Package stolen from building

David B. Schibilla, 48, of Bridgeview, was charged with theft for allegedly taking a package from an apartment building on Ridgeland Avenue at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 21. A resident saw him take the package on a security camera, and police found him nearby with the package in his bookbag. Police said Schibilla also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous trespassing charge. His court date is set for Oct. 26.

Unlicensed driver charged in accident

Fathi Quran, 69, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic accident at 2:08 p.m. Sept. 21, at Central Avenue and 109th Street. He was also cited for failure to stay in a lane. His court date is Oct. 22.

Suspended license stop leads to speeding charge

Cesar E. Guevara Martinez, 26, of Cicero, was charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop at 8:17 a.m. Sept. 27, in the 10000 block of South Central Avenue. Police also charged him with aggravated speeding for driving 62 mph in a 30-mph zone. His court date is Nov. 6.

Uninsured driver charged with aggravated speeding

Karem Y. Radi, 18, of Bridgeview, was charged with aggravated speeding following a traffic stop at 12:36 a.m. Sept. 21, in the 5600 block of West 95th Street. Police said he was driving 62 mph in a 35-mph zone. He was also charged with driving without insurance. His court date is Oct. 16.

Retail theft suspect arrested at Jewel

Kato C. Ferguson, 30, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft following his arrest at 1:52 p.m. Sept. 6, at Jewel, 8801 S. Ridgeland Ave. Police said he took merchandise worth $147. He initially provided a false name but was identified through fingerprints. His court date is Oct. 23.

Two men charged in street racing crash

Two men were charged with street racing that caused a traffic crash in the 10800 block of South Cicero Avenue at 11:11 a.m. Sept. 6.

Jose G. Mora, 48, of Blue Island, was arrested at the scene after his black Mustang struck an uninvolved vehicle. His passenger was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment. Surveillance video from nearby businesses appeared to show Mora’s vehicle racing a blue Camaro at twice the 35-mph speed limit.

David N. Wescott Jr., 30, of Oak Lawn, was tracked down and arrested later that day.

Both men are due in court Oct. 26 on charges of street racing, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Wescott was also cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

Police report information is provided by law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken. Persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
