No gun found after report of armed man
Police were sent to the 9100 block of West 47th Street on Sept. 2 after a report of a man waving a firearm.
When officers arrived, the man gave them permission to search his vehicle. They found no gun. The person who called police had already left.
Motorist stopped to eat, told to leave
A woman parked in the lot of a business in the 8100 block of Joliet Road that had closed for the evening told police she had stopped there to eat. Police sent her on her way.
Tires slashed on vehicles
Police were sent to the 7900 block of West 47th Street on Sept. 6 after a report of a man slashing vehicle tires. The vehicle owners declined to press charges.
Truck damaged, radio stolen
The owner of a truck parked in the 5100 block of Lawndale Avenue told police Sept. 9 that someone had damaged its exterior and stolen the stock radio.
The owner said the truck had been parked there for several months.
Man says co-workers attacked him
A man called police Sept. 10 and said two co-workers had jumped him the day before in the parking lot of Assemblers Inc., 8601 W. 47th St.
The man’s face showed signs of injury, police said.
An office manager told police the lot has no video cameras and that the two men had been fired. The man declined to press charges.
Fight at The MAX
Police were sent to The MAX, 4750 S. Vernon Ave., on Sept. 11 after a fight broke out between two soccer teams. Everyone involved had left before police arrived.
Catalytic converter stolen from truck
The owner of a business in the 9500 block of Sergo Drive told police Sept. 15 that a catalytic converter had been stolen from one of his trucks.
Surveillance video showed a man with a battery-powered saw walk into the parking lot and later leave with the converter.
Car stolen in McCook found in Burbank
Burbank police alerted McCook police Sept. 17 about a vehicle that had been stolen in McCook.
Burbank police had a woman in custody who admitted stealing the vehicle. The owner had not known his car was stolen and did not want to press charges. Police did not release a name or any charges.
Speeding car gets away
Another police department alerted McCook police Sept. 22 that a speeding vehicle was heading into the village. Officers spotted it at Route 171 and Joliet Road but could not catch it.
Man charged with gun offense after traffic stop
Police pulled over a car Sept. 23 after it failed to stop at East Avenue and Plainfield Road and learned the driver had a warrant for his arrest.
A passenger ran off. The driver tried to run, too, but police detained him and found a gun in the waistband of his pants.
He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Police did not release his name.
Disturbance on PACE bus
Police were sent to 55th Street and Sergo Drive on Sept. 28 for a disturbance on a PACE bus.
Officers learned a man on the bus had been calling people disparaging names. Police said the man was very agitated. They advised him to get off and wait for another bus. He did.
Scuffle at business; no arrests
Police were sent to a business in the 9301 block of West. 55th St. on Sept. 30 for a dispute between two people and a security guard.
One of the two began filming with his phone, and the guard tried to grab it. A brief scuffle followed. No one was hurt, and no one wanted to press charges. Police sent everyone on their way.
