Pony rides, a petting zoo, hayrides and free pumpkins are on the schedule for the Bridgeview Park District’s Fall Fest, planned for Saturday, Oct. 10.

The fest is scheduled to run from 1 to 4 p.m. at Commissioners Park, 8100 S. Beloit Ave., according to the park district.

Everything at the event is free except tarot card readings, which will carry a small fee, the park district said. That includes fall treats, candy and pumpkins.

Families can adopt a pumpkin from the Porfirio Pumpkin Patch, sponsored by state Sen. Mike Porfirio. The afternoon also includes face painting, ghostly games, a costume contest, photo spots, resource tables, live music and other entertainment, according to the park district. DJ Mike “the Italian Stallion” is set to perform.

Park district officials said they wanted to change things up this year with an event families could enjoy together, offering a mix of fall activities, animals, music and costumes. They encouraged families to wear fall or Halloween gear, take pictures and make an afternoon of it.

The event is hosted by the park district with Porfirio and state Reps. Lisa Davis and Michael Crawford.
