An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a car near 92nd Place and Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview on Sept. 11 died from his injuries on Sept. 17.
Jad Debiy was riding an electric scooter on the frontage road next to Harlem with two friends about 5 p.m. when a northbound car turned left onto 92nd Place and hit him, police said. He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Police said Jad lived in the vicinity of the accident.
The driver was cooperating with police and was not impaired, police said. He was cited for failure to yield.
Funeral services for Jad were held Sept. 19 at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview. He was buried at the American Muslim Cemetery in Lynwood.
