Fall arrived at The Children’s Farm at The Center in Palos Park as families gathered Sept. 19-20 for the Pumpkin Days Grand Opening Festival.
The two-day festival kicked off the farm’s fall season, offering visitors a chance to enjoy pumpkins, farm animals and a variety of activities for all ages.
Located at 12700 Southwest Highway, The Children’s Farm welcomed families from throughout the area for a weekend filled with seasonal fun. Pumpkin Days continued on Saturdays and Sundays through Halloween.
Visitors explored the farm’s open barns and interacted with animals, including cows, pigs, goats, sheep and chickens. Families also enjoyed hayrack rides, visited the U-pick pumpkin patch and took part in activities such as the hay bale climb, corn box and winding maze.
Those looking for a little fright could visit the spooky woodshed, which added a Halloween-inspired attraction to the festivities.
Live music, children’s crafts and food concessions also were part of the weekend, giving families plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fall atmosphere.
Edy Pawlikowski, of Orland Park, said the event offered a fun way to spend time outdoors.
“We love this event. It’s a fun way to engage with animals and explore nature,” Pawlikowski said.
Kelly Borowski, also of Orland Park, said Pumpkin Days was a great way to spend a Saturday.
The pumpkin patch was among the seasonal attractions, allowing children and their families to search for the perfect pumpkin to take home.
In addition to the entertainment, Pumpkin Days provided children with an opportunity to learn about farm animals and experience a working farm. The Children’s Farm offers hands-on experiences designed to connect visitors with animals, nature and agriculture.
