Drunken driving, four other charges
A two-vehicle accident in the parking lot of Joey’s Red Hots, 7830 Frontage Road, at 5:36 p.m. Sept. 4 resulted in one driver receiving five tickets, including one for drunken driving.
After an officer detected alcohol on the breath of the driver and noticed glassy eyes and slurred speech, the 57-year-old man told him, “You know, I’m not drunk,” while he balanced himself against his vehicle, police said.
Alvaro Ibarra was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving on a suspended license, driving on an expired registration, and driving without insurance.
94 miles per hour on Roberts Road
A 32-year-old man who told police he “was going a little fast” was ticketed after radar clocked him driving 94 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone.
He was driving southbound in the 8300 block of Roberts Road at 8:38 a.m. Sept. 7 and was pulled over in the 8000 block of West 87th Street in Hickory Hills.
Roberto Martinez Jr. was charged with aggravated speeding, unlawful use of a weapon after police found a loaded 9mm handgun in the center console, and possession of open alcohol in a motor vehicle after police found an open bottle in his beige 2009 Cadillac.
Random check leads to three tickets
A man received three tickets after a random check found his white 2012 GMC had a suspended registration at 10:57 a.m. Sept. 8 at 87th Street and 88th Avenue.
Jose Jesus Martinez Maya, 20, was charged with driving on a registration suspended for non-insurance, driving without a license/never issued and driving without insurance.
No valid safety sticker leads to charges
After an officer noticed a white 2018 Ford box truck lacked a valid safety test sticker, its driver received four tickets at 12:05 p.m. Sept. 9.
The officer saw the vehicle in the 8300 block of northbound Roberts Road and eventually pulled it over in the 7800 block of West 79th Street in Bridgeview.
Samuel Collins, 56, was charged with not having a valid safety test sticker, driving on a suspended license, improper use of registration, and driving without insurance.
No license plates lands driver in hot water
A man whose white 2018 Chevy had no license plates received three tickets after being pulled over at 3:06 p.m. Sept. 12 in the 8000 block of West 79th Street.
Jose Vaca, 22, was charged with driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, and driving while using an electronic communication device.
Random check leads to tickets
Ryan D. Pearson II, 27, was pulled over in the 8500 block of West 79th Street at 10:29 p.m. Sept. 11 after a random check found his registration had been suspended.
He soon was charged with driving on a registration suspended for non-insurance, driving without insurance, and driving on a suspended license.
