The state Democratic Party, along with southwest suburban democrats and over 800 passionate attendees, gathered Sept. 10 in the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier for a powerful rally. For the fourth consecutive year, the event successfully raised nearly $1 million to fuel the Illinois Democrats’ coordinated campaign, Organize Illinois.
Organize Illinois is a dynamic grassroots initiative mobilizing local Democrats through an extensive door-to-door program, aiming to secure decisive victories on November 3.
Cook County Assessor candidate Patrick Hynes, who also represents the 6th Congressional District on the state committee, said, “The State Democratic Party under Chairperson Lisa Hernandez has made great strides to build the Democratic Party statewide. She has gone beyond Cook County to include all of Illinois in the State Party.”
Organize Illinois is designed to assist candidates in crucial must-win races. Volunteers and technical support are supplied from statewide resources to help in select races.
“Governor Pritzker has been instrumental in putting the state party on the right track,” Hynes said. “It speaks volumes to his leadership and vision, not just on the state level, but on a national level.”
Although Maryland Governor Wes Moore was the featured speaker, Pritzker, addressing the energized crowd, declared, “Families deserve lower costs and higher wages, healthcare for all, and the best public education in the nation — and they deserve a governor who is going to find a way to make things better!”
Cook County Board 17th District candidate Elyse Hoffenburg said, “The coordinated campaign has been a valuable collaboration to bring a lot of needed resources into local campaigns. Their institutional knowledge and experience help us connect with volunteers and voters. They focus on the positive aspects of a campaign and offset the negativity created by our opposition.”
The event also highlighted the growing momentum behind the Illinois Democrats’ efforts, with new endorsements from key community leaders and an expanded volunteer base contributing to the campaign’s strength.
Organize Illinois has recently launched a digital outreach program to complement its door-to-door efforts, aiming to engage younger voters through social media and virtual events.
Additionally, the campaign announced plans to increase funding for voter education and turnout initiatives in critical districts, ensuring that every eligible voter is informed and motivated to participate in the upcoming election.
Pritzker emphasized the importance of unity and forward-thinking policies, stating, “Our work is far from over, but together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive Illinois for all.”
Maryland Governor Wes Moore closed the event with a call to action, inspiring attendees to continue their commitment to progressive change and community engagement.
