Rhine VFW Post 2729 held its annual picnic Sunday, Sept. 6, at its South Archer Avenue location, drawing families and neighbors for free food, games, and prizes.
The event ran from noon to 4 p.m. and featured hamburgers, hot dogs, roasted corn, popcorn, cotton candy, and games for children. Toys for Tots donated prizes for the kids’ games and bingo competition held inside the post’s hall.
Auxiliary President Michael Maruszak was pleased with the turnout.
“Alderman Silvana Tabares from the 23rd Ward was out here earlier. She graciously donated popcorn, candy, cotton candy, and snow cones for us. We have bingo in our hall with nice prizes. Toys for Tots are very good to us and they donated the prizes for the kids’ games. We are very thankful for everyone that comes out year after year and those who donate,” he said.
