Betty Johnson-Gonzalez

Betty Johnson-Gonzalez, 88, of Bridgeview, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 23, 1938, in Love, Mississippi.

Betty was a devoted Christian whose life was defined by faith, kindness, generosity, and love for others. She had a gentle spirit and a special way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.

She dedicated 33 years to working as a secretary with the Teamsters and later spent more than 15 years at Dress Barn, where she enjoyed fashion, helping others, and forming lasting friendships.

Betty also loved shopping, spending time with family, and being involved in her church. She especially treasured participating in her church’s nursing home ministry, where she brought comfort, encouragement, and companionship to others.

Above all, family was Betty’s life. She especially treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, took great pride in watching them grow, and cherished every moment spent together. She deeply loved her husband, Jesus Gonzalez, and treasured the life, love, and companionship they shared through the years.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jesus Gonzalez; granddaughters, Jessica Tomasic (Dan) and Tiffany Olthoff (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Lucas and Melody Tomasic; sister, Carolyn LaPat and her late husband, Anselm; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Johnson.

Betty will be remembered for her strong faith, warm heart, selflessness, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, compassion, and kindness that will live on through everyone who was blessed to know and love her.

Funeral Procession: Wednesday, September 9, 2026, 10:30 a.m. from Bridgeview Church of God, 7801 W. 71st Street, Bridgeview, Illinois.

Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
