Willow Springs School District 108 opened its doors Wednesday, August 19, with newly renovated classrooms in the school’s south wing, part of a plan to upgrade learning spaces without raising property taxes.
The project marks the first phase of a multi-year renovation strategy, according to School Board President Joe Bonomo.
“If we can complete one wing each year, when finances are available, without raising property taxes, it would be a great investment in our community and our students’ future,” Bonomo said.
The renovated classrooms feature updated layouts designed to support group work and hands-on learning. District officials did not provide specific details about the scope of the renovations, the cost, or the timeline for completing additional wings.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony included Board President Joe Bonomo, Assistant Superintendent Will Seidelmann, Principal Rachel Skala, Board Vice President Jeff Wojciak, Board Members Lucy Mierop and Arlene Napolitano, and Board Secretary Christina Michalek.
