Overview:
Burglars hit Thortons in Monee in the early hours of August 28. Gaming machines appeared to be the targets. No injuries.
On August 28, at approximately 2:52 a.m., Monee Police responded to Thorntons, 25451 S. Ridgeland Avenue, in reference to a burglary. The business was open, with employees and customers present during the commission of the offense. The gaming machines were targeted by the three offenders, who were masked, gloved, and carrying sledgehammers and pry tools.
The offenders were in and out of the business within minutes and, thankfully, no employees or customers were injured.
It should be noted that after witness interviews and a review of surveillance video, no individual person was targeted during this criminal act and no robbery occurred. The business was closed for a brief period after the burglary for crime scene processing. Monee Police investigators are working leads, and the investigation is ongoing.
