Retail theft 

Lenn Sommerville, 54, of the 11800 block of LaSalle Street, Chicago, was charged July 20 with retail theft after police said he stole $554 in alcohol from Jewel. Police said he initially provided a fake name and date of birth. 

Stevens Eliacin, 41, of the 4700 block of 186th Place, Country Club Hills, was charged July 22 with retail theft after police said he stole $800 in tools from Lowe’s Home Center. 

Philip Birdsong, 23, of the 1800 block of Summit Avenue, Kankakee, was charged August 1 with retail theft after police said he took four bottles of fragrance from Von Maur valued at $507. 

Traffic and DUI 

Renee Ryan, 53, of the 11100 block of Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, was charged July 28 with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, driving with no insurance and having expired registration after she was stopped in the 16300 block of LaGrange Road. 

Terrelle Woods, 23, of the 1700 block of North Larrabee Avenue, Chicago, was charged July 30 with speeding and resisting arrest after police said he was stopped for traveling 50 mph in a posted 35 mph zone near 148th Street and LaGrange Road. 

Aaron McMahon, 36, of the 13700 block of Southwest Highway, Orland Park, was charged August 6 with driving under the influence, resisting a peace officer, driving without insurance and failure to use a turn signal after he was stopped near 82nd Avenue and Vista Drive. Police said McMahon had slurred speech and an odor of alcohol on his breath. Police also said they found a half-empty bottle of vodka in a paper bag in the vehicle’s glove compartment. 

Macarielle Grubbs, 22, of the 100 block of Hammes Avenue, Joliet, was charged August 8 with speeding, DUI, unlawful use of cannabis, driving on an expired license and driving without insurance after she was stopped for traveling 77 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. Police said Grubbs’ eyes were glassy and her speech was slurred. 

Ashanti Bailey, 23, of the 3000 block of Willardshire Road, Joliet, was a passenger in Grubbs’ vehicle and was wanted on a warrant from Will County for failure to appear in court on a driving on a suspended license charge. 

Criminal damage 

Neil Barkowski, 62, of the 15700 block of Orlan Brook Drive, Orland Park, was charged August 5 with criminal damage to property after police said he threw a laptop computer inside the clubhouse of a condo association in the 15700 block of Orlan Brook Drive during an argument. 

Police report information is provided by law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken. Persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
