A 38-year-old Hickory Hills man with four prior DUI convictions was charged with multiple felonies after rear-ending a stopped car on La Grange Road at 58th Street in Countryside at 6:29 p.m. Aug. 15.

Police said Steven K. Srejc showed signs of being highly intoxicated when officers arrived at the scene. While inside an ambulance responding to the crash, Srejc became combative and punched a police officer in the face.

An investigation revealed that Srejc had four prior DUI convictions and five prior convictions for driving on a suspended or revoked license.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved felony charges. Srejc was released with a court date.

The charges are aggravated DUI, aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated driving on a license revoked for DUI, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
