Hit and run leads to arrest

A 21-year-old Countryside man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license early Aug. 15.

The crash occurred at Plainfield Road and LaGrange Road at 12:19 a.m. Police arrested him at his home, where he admitted involvement in the crash. Police did not release his name.

Woman steals items worth $566

A loss prevention officer at TJ Maxx, 5555 S. Brainard Ave., reported that a woman wearing a tan hat and black shirt stole $565.88 in merchandise at 4:19 p.m. Aug. 16.

The woman drove away in a black Geo Prizm.

Disorderly conduct in road rage

A 23-year-old Summit woman was charged with disorderly conduct after throwing a drink at another driver during a road rage incident at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 13 in the 5900 block of South La Grange Road.

She was arrested on Aug. 17. Police did not release her name.

Hit and run at 55th and La Grange Road

A woman reported that a black SUV turned left in front of her vehicle on LaGrange Road near 55th Street, causing a crash. The other driver sped away east on 55th Street at 12:21 p.m. Aug. 18.

Man’s wallet stolen, credit cards used

A man reported leaving his wallet on the counter at Enterprise Rental Car at approximately 8:30 a.m. Aug. 20.

Later that day, he discovered it missing. When he checked his credit card accounts, he found several unauthorized purchases.

Woman charged with stealing purse

Kathy M. Arrington, 26, of Chicago, was charged with theft of a purse on Aug. 10. Police were alerted about the suspected vehicle by a license plate reader one week later.

The car was pulled over in the 9800 block of Joliet Road at 2:21 p.m. Aug. 17. Arrington, the front seat passenger, was identified as the person who stole the purse. She was arrested without incident and later released with a court date.

Police did not say from where the purse had been stolen.

Oak Park woman charged with retail theft

Olga O. Kotalik, 45, of Oak Park, was charged with retail theft at TJ Maxx, 5555 S. Brainard Ave., at 4:51 p.m. Aug. 20.

A loss prevention officer observed Kotalik stealing merchandise worth $267.95. The officer detained her until police arrived and arrested her without incident.
