The Chargers hope to contend for a spot in this year’s expanded playoffs and reach the postseason for the first time since 2005.
Back as starters are senior defensive backs Trevor Wilson (5-11, 180) and Frankie Soto (6-0, 170), junior defensive end Nathan Morales (6-1, 260), senior receiver/defensive back Jaylen Logan (6-0, 170), junior linebacker Adam Danko (5-11, 175), senior tight end/defensive end Michael Kos (6-3, 230) and senior two-way lineman Adli Heresh (6-2, 270).
A major plus is Logan’s return to health after he missed time because of injury late last season.
Other veterans expected to contribute include senior receiver Jazen McHerron (6-1, 160), senior quarterback Afaneh Samra (5-11, 165) and junior two-way lineman David Klimaszka (5-11, 300).
Several newcomers who show promise are junior running back/defensive back Damani Morris (5-11, 185), sophomore tight end/defensive end Jake Houston (6-3, 215) and sophomore two-way linemen Omar Younis and Kyrylo Dzydz.
