2026 outlook:
Deandre Mosley, who had been the Crusaders’ JV football coach and head wrestling coach, took over when the school parted ways with Rob Albano after last season.
A conference title and third consecutive IHSA playoff berth are goals for an experienced team that returns 13 starters.
Senior starters back are athletes Kavarion McCarter (6-2, 200), Jacob Tunstill (5-11, 160) and Julian Cuevas (6-2, 205); running back/safety Victor Sandoval (5-8, 165); two-way linemen Nathan Brewer (6-0, 280), Logan Alvarez (6-2, 270), Yoel Rios (6-0 280) and Ivan Perez (6-1, 275); linebacker/running back Christian Estrada (6-0, 215) and defensive end/running back Jesus Rosado (6-0, 210).
Junior Alex Hernandez, who also plays safety, will take over as the starting quarterback with Mason Rychetsky opting to focus on baseball for his senior year.
Other junior starters returning include athlete/kicker Sergio Medina (5-11, 175) and two-way lineman Hector Bahena (6-1 275).
Four transfers could make an impact, including junior athlete Tony James (5-11, 160), who began high school at Kennedy before leaving for a year. Also incoming are senior linebacker/tight end Nicholas Garcia (6-2, 250) from Mount Carmel, junior linebacker/running back Candido Ayala (5-11, 170) from De La Salle and sophomore quarterback/linebacker Israel Alvarado from St. Laurence.
