A senior class featuring numerous three-year starters has the Mustangs upbeat about their chances to be in the mix for a conference title and a long playoff run after missing the postseason last fall.
Two productive seniors back are running back/linebacker Gavin Wheeler (5-11, 175), who had 81 tackles, eight tackles for loss, an interception, a sack and a forced fumble last season, and defensive lineman Garret Kazmierowicz (6-0, 225), who finished with eight tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
A pair of key juniors are quarterback Brady Bruen (5-11, 170), who was hurt in Week 9 last year but returned in time to play baseball, and Cory Isaac (6-0 185), who averaged 5.5 yards per carry and scored eight TDs last fall.
Other impact players include senior defensive lineman Landon Robinson-Gwin (5-10, 240), junior offensive lineman Cai’vion Wright (5-1, 230), senior linebacker Esau Ruvalcaba (5-11, 200), senior defensive back Jacob Ruvalcaba (6-0, 200) and sophomore defensive back Jaylon Chothen (6-2, 180).
Some newcomers to watch are sophomore defensive back Trevell Moore (6-0, 170), junior defensive lineman Blake Kazmierowicz (6-2, 210) and junior linebacker Edward Tyszkiewicz (5-9, 165).
