The Bobcats graduated some key skill players in Marco Franco, Bobby Applewhite and Alberto Hernandez, which means junior William Martinez will be relied on to lead the running game.
There’s some experience up front with two-way linemen Angel Gonzalez, Alex Rodriguez, Julian Lamas, Jesus Medina and Jacob Franco. Gonzalez was all-conference in the Blue Central last season as a sophomore.
Rodriguez, who moves from tight end, bulked up in the weight room over the offseason, while coach Mark Morgan said Lamas is the Bobcats’ most improved player.
Other veterans to watch include all-conference wide receiver/defensive back Alejandro Anguiano, senior running back/linebacker Richard Garcia, junior linebacker/running backs Victor De La Garza and David Villa, and junior receiver/safety John Pacheco.
Freshman David Villasenor is set to take over at quarterback.
Other promising newcomers include juniors Julius Salgado and Frank Ramirez, sophomores Pablo Malaga, Eduardo Salazar and Israel Lopez, and freshmen Jose Flores, Jayce Kordik, Alex Macias and Jake Saez-Vianalay.
