Conference: South Suburban Red
Head coach: Phillip Rossberg
2025 record: 0-9
2026 outlook:
After reaching the playoffs three years in a row, the inexperienced Argonauts struggled last year.
They’re hoping for a bounceback with 10 starters returning, led by junior running back/linebacker Skylar Arrellano-Phipps. Also a standout wrestler who qualified for the youth nationals in Fargo, North Dakota, Arrellano-Phipps (5-7, 165) was an all-conference running back last season.
Senior Daniel Vazquez (5-9, 165) is another returning two-way starter at receiver and safety.
Other regulars back on offense are senior quarterback Chance Sanders (6-2, 185), senior lineman Tavin Ortiz Jr. (5-10, 265), senior receiver Axel Samaniego (5-8, 170) and senior center Mariano Vidro (5-9, 250),
Also returning as defensive starters ard senior ends Devin Gaddy (5-10, 200) and Angel Vazquez (6-1, 250).
Running back/linebacker/tight end Rocky Green, a senior who was on Brother Rice’s Class 7A championship team last fall, is a transfer to watch. Also keep an eye on junior tight end/linebacker George Zaharo (6-1, 220), senior defensive tackle/offensive lineman Roy Baron Jr. (6-0 235) and sophomore receiver/defensive back Vahkarie Dyer (5-8, 160).
The Argonauts have a few new assistant coaches, including Rob Albano, who led Kennedy to IHSA playoff berths the past two seasons.
