If you want a bargain when eating out, McCook may be worth a visit.
The village board at its Aug. 17 meeting approved eliminating its 2 percent tax on dining.
While that may not sound like much, Mayor Terrance Carr said it’s something the village will be fine without.
“The previous mayor put it in,” Carr said. “It’s a 2 percent tax. It adds up. Fifty cents here, fifty cents there.”
Carr should know.
He is the owner of the Steak N Egger chain that has seven locations incuding Cicero, Summit and, yes, McCook. The McCook Bohemian Restaurant & Bar is another popular dining destination in the village.
