Unlicensed driver causes crash
Petronilo Pena-Lagunas, 49, of Bridgeview, was charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic crash with injuries at 2:26 p.m. July 27 at the intersection of 69th Avenue and 95th Street.
Police said Pena-Lagunas was carrying a license that expired in 2022. He was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to yield while turning left.
He is due in court Aug. 21.
Intoxicated pedestrian strikes officer
Leith K. Sadi, 30, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer after police said he struck an officer while being detained on 95th Street.
Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man walking in traffic at 95th Street and 54th Avenue. Officers said Sadi was stumbling and refused repeated requests to stop walking east. When they detained him, he slapped a police officer.
Sadi was also charged with disorderly conduct after a motorist reported that he was blowing kisses at her and attempted to open her car door.
He was due in court July 31.
Diner charged with trespassing
Perry Jackson, 44, of Chicago, was charged with trespassing and theft of service after police were called to Denny’s, 9217 S. Cicero Ave., at 8:40 a.m. July 29.
Police said Jackson had been banned from the restaurant for not paying bills in the past. He ate a $37 meal, continued drinking coffee, and refused to leave or pay the bill when officers gave him the option to do so or face arrest.
He is due in court Aug. 28.
Domestic disturbance ends with DUI
Alejandro Campos, 48, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at West 98th Street and Central Avenue at 3:16 p.m. July 30.
Police responding to a domestic disturbance on Oakdale Drive stopped him after a resident reported that he had damaged their property and driven away while intoxicated. Campos failed field sobriety tests.
He was also charged with illegal possession of cannabis after 17.6 grams of the drug was found in his pocket.
He is due in court Sept. 15.
Passenger with warrant caught with cocaine
Sean M. Adams, 36, of Oak Lawn, was charged with possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop at 10 p.m. July 30 in the 5500 block of West 87th Street.
Police said Adams was a passenger with an outstanding Cook County warrant and was carrying 0.43 grams of cocaine. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing identification for initially providing a false name.
He was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and was due in court July 31.
Store employee arrested for theft
Marius V. Coleman, 35, of Riverdale, was arrested and charged with felony theft at Marshalls, 9601 S. Cicero Ave., at 10:57 a.m. July 28.
Store managers said an internal investigation determined that Coleman had stolen merchandise worth $772 while employed at the store between May 29 and July 20. They documented 14 separate instances in which he took clothing, shoes, and other items.
He was due in court July 31.
