Driver charged with suspended license
Karam F. Allan, 20, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop at 11:04 p.m. July 26 in the 10400 block of South Harlem Avenue. He is due in court Sept. 9.
Felon arrested with gun and drugs after traffic stop
Terry Derkits, 38, of Worth, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance, driving with suspended registration and improper use of registration following a traffic stop at 9:02 p.m. July 27 in the 10300 block of South Harlem Avenue.
Police said Derkits was driving a box truck when he was pulled over. After being stopped, he switched seats with a female passenger. Officers found a loaded handgun and approximately 0.5 grams of crack cocaine in the vehicle.
Derkits was wanted on two outstanding warrants. The license plates on the vehicle were registered to another vehicle. He was held for a detention hearing on July 29.
