Since opening in early June, Mashed Burgers has been drawing steady crowds to its Palos Hills location with smash burgers, Nashville hot chicken and loaded sides.
Owner Muhammad Beriat said the spot at 10458 S. Harlem Ave. was a major factor in choosing where to open his first restaurant. “It’s such a cool location,” he said. “There’s so much traffic — we’re always busy.”
Beriat has long wanted to run a restaurant. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” he said.
The menu centers on smashed beef patties with crispy, lacy edges, melted American cheese, grilled onions, pickles and Mash Sauce. Burgers come as singles, doubles, triples and quads, priced from about $7 to $13. Customers can choose OKC-style fried onions or add spicy variations.
Nashville hot chicken is the other signature item. Options include tenders, loaded fries and sandwiches served on Martin’s potato buns with pickles, coleslaw and Kickback Sauce.
Beriat’s go-to order is the Double Spicy Mash — two smashed beef patties topped with melted American cheese, grilled onions, pickles and Mash Sauce, with an extra kick of heat.
He also recommends the Mac Loaded Chicken: crispy chopped chicken tenders piled over creamy white cheddar mac and cheese and shoestring fries, finished with Kickback Sauce. “I always recommend people to try the Mac Loaded Chicken,” he said.
Sides include shoestring fries, Cajun fries, onion rings, mashed fries and white cheddar mac and cheese. Dessert options range from layered vanilla ice cream parfaits in flavors like Lotus, Oreo, Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch to hand-spun milkshakes.
Beriat said customers should not overthink their order. “You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu,” he said.
Mashed Burgers is open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is located at 10458 S. Harlem Ave.
