Fleeing and eluding police
A driver was taken into police custody after fleeing and leading an officer on a high-speed chase on July 1 near Route 171 and 47th Street.
The driver had been seen speeding in the area. Police deployed the StarChase system, which affixes a magnetic tracer to a vehicle, and eventually pulled the driver over. Police did not release the driver’s name.
Damage to property
An officer found multiple fresh tire markings on July 5 in the parking lot of The Max, 4751 S. Vernon Ave., and in a parking lot on the south side of Burke Beverage, 4900 S. Vernon Avenue.
Stolen vehicle recovered
An officer learned of a vehicle parked under a black tarp at 50th Street and Egandale Avenue on July 6. Village cameras showed the vehicle entering the area and a man exiting.
The man appeared to hide between the public library and a house, then ran away. The officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. It was towed and the owner was contacted.
Driver flees, eludes police
An officer saw a speeding vehicle with heavily tinted windows at Route 171 and Interstate 55 on July 7. When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped away and made multiple traffic violations. The officer ended the pursuit.
Criminal damage to property
An officer found fresh tire markings on the pavement outside the Holly Hunt Warehouse, 9450 Sergo Drive, on July 9.
Driver flees; car found in Cicero
After an officer observed an accident on July 10 at Joliet Road and 53rd Street, the officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle.
The driver sped away at a high rate of speed, and the officer lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was registered in Cicero. Police there found it unoccupied and towed it. Police contacted the mother of the juvenile driver, who was issued several tickets.
Air compressor stolen
An air compressor was reported stolen on July 20. The owner said he left it at a job site at Joliet Road and Route 171 and found it gone when he returned the next day.
Disturbance at motel
Police responded to the Skyline Motel, 8136 Joliet Road, on July 27 for a reported disturbance. The complainant said a man kicked and yelled at her door, saying she was being too loud and keeping him up.
Officers contacted the man, who said he was having a bad day and would be leaving the motel. No charges were filed.
