The Brookfield Village Board voted unanimously Aug. 10 to impose a fee on nursing homes and assisted living facilities for emergency lift assistance calls.
The ordinance allows the village to recover costs associated with non-emergency lift assists at these facilities, a practice now permitted under new state law.
Interim Fire Chief Matt Dubik presented the proposal at previous committee meetings. The board approved the ordinance unanimously without discussion.
“Based on the new state law that allowed non-home communities to impose such a fee to recover some of these costs, staff and Chief Dubik were making the recommendation that we pass this ordinance,” President Michael Garvey said.
