Chicago police are warning Southwest Side businesses to be vigilant as they investigate two robberies and a late-night break-in in the past week.
Tom’s Tap, 6707 W. Archer Ave. In the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, was broken into August 6.
Police said someone smashed in the front glass door and an open cash register was recovered at the scene.
Police said the tavern was empty when they arrived. It was unclear how much money was stolen.
Two robberies took place early Sunday morning in the West Lawn and Gage Park communities.
Police said the same robbers are suspected in both August 9 incidents.
Police said three men with guns walked into both businesses within five minutes of each incident, demanded property from the store and fled in a white Hyundai Tucson.
The first incident took place at 5:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of South Western Boulevard and the second happened five minutes later in the 4000 block of West 59th Street.
Police said the robbers were wearing dark clothing and masks. Two wore black masks, one wore a white mask.
