Two men were charged with stealing a Freightliner truck from a Harvey lot on July 14, then abandoning it miles away.
Von McCue, 38, of the 4000 block of Tower Drive, Skokie, and Ahmad Alghananin, 29, of Chicago, were arrested near 152nd Street and 73rd Avenue after witnesses reported seeing them park a “suspicious” vehicle and leave on foot, police said.
Officers found the men a few blocks away inside a parked van, according to a police report.
At the station, police said they recovered items from the suspects: two black gloves and a ski mask from Alghananin’s pockets; a red Snap-on glove and a screwdriver with two bits from McCue’s backpack; and a key ring with three keys—including a generic vehicle key, a Volvo key, and a storage locker key—from Alghananin’s backpack.
Police said McCue and Alghananin removed the truck’s GPS system before abandoning the vehicle.
Both were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
